Gcaleka Xhosa King Sigcawu to be coronated

MAY 11, 2015

Mpendulo Sigcawu is now going to be officially coronated as King of the Gcaleka tribe of the AmaXhosa nation - ten years after the death of his father, at an event that is expected to pull in Kings and Queens from Africa and Europe.

The official coronation follows consultations by the AmaTshawe Royal Council, which annointed Sigcawu in 2011 to succeed the late King Xolilizwe Sigcawu, who passed away in December 2005.

The Royal Council of the Nqadu Great Place has set the 15th of May as the coronation date for the new King.

The event will be officiated by the President Jacob Zuma, who will be accompanied by Premier of the Eastern Cape Province, Phumulo Masualle.

The event is reportedly of international status as invitations have been extended to the Kings and Queens from the African continent and other European countries.
