GO GEORGE running a limited service on Thursday as bus strike continues

The GO GEORGE bus service on Thursday said that while its services have been compromised by the national bus strike that began on Wednesday, a limited service on main routes will be rendered on Thursday after a small group of "dedicated drivers" again came to work in the morning.

The nationwide bus strike that saw thousands stranded after bus companies grounded their fleets entered a second day after talks between the National Union Metalworkers of South Africa (NUMSA) and the companies deadlocked again on Wednesday.

Representatives of the bus companies met with union representatives at the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) to try and find each other and prevent a protracted strike that has seen thousands resorting to other means of transport ahead of the Easter weekend.

NUMSA said that the new 9% offer from emplyers was not one it could confidently take back to its members.

"Although the GO GEORGE service remains compromised, a small group of dedicated drivers came to work this morning," the company said.

"A limited service on main routes can therefore be rendered today."

The following routes are serviced on Thursday 13 April 2017:

1A (New Dawn Park – CBD),

1B (Harmony Park - CBD,

60 (Rosedale - CBD),

2 (Blanco – CBD),

53 (Rosemoor), and

7 (CBD - Garden Route Mall).
