Good and bad injury news for Bulls

AUGUST 25, 2015

With No 8 Hanro Liebenberg in hospital with a ruptured intestine, the Blue Bulls have at least been boosted by the return to action of loose forward Arno Botha.

Liebenberg had to undergo surgery following a blow to his intestines and will only be back in six weeks, pending recovery, team doctor Org Strauss confirmed.

Botha has been cleared following a knee injury picked up in the Bulls' pre-season clash in Japan and can be considered for Saturday’s match against Griquas in Kimberley.

The likes of Dayan van der Westhuizen, Tian Schoeman, Dries Swanepoel, Warrick Gelant and Roelof Smit will only train on Tuesday, following light niggles sustained in the 47-29 win over Western Province last weekend.

Strauss also confirmed that Callie Visagie will not play again this season. The hooker will undergo foot surgery this week and will be out for four months at least.

Visagie will join Irne Herbst, Piet van Zyl, Morne Mellett and Dennis Visser on the long-term injury list.

Ruan Steenkamp and Pierre Schoeman, who are recovering from knee injuries, are pencilled in to return at the end of the month and Ryan Nell and Duncan Matthews for September 15.
