A 37 year-old man from Tanzania is expected in the Grahamstown Magistrate's Court soon after he was arrested by Grahamstown Highway Patrol for the possession of dagga with a street value of about R110 000 on Thursday afternoon.

Grahamstown police were manning a routine roadblock along the N2 Highway, just outside the town, when they stopped a Port Elizabeth-bound long distance bus. On searching the bus, police found two large brown suitcases containing the dagga with a street value of nearly R110 000.

Eastern Cape police said that they would be out in full force for the National Arts Festival, which opened to the public on Thursday.
