Grahamstown police officer’s killer to remain behind bars

A 32-year old man arrested last week in connection with the murder of a Grahamstown police officer, will remain behind bars until his next bail hearing later this week.

In a short statement on twitter, police said the bail application of Anthony Swarts’ will be heard this coming Friday after it was originally expected to place on Monday.

He is facing charges of murder and robbery after the body of Warrant Officer Alby Julius was found in some bushes near Sun City this past Saturday morning. His cellphone was later found in Swarts’ possession. The motive for the killing remains unknown.
