Grahamstown police recover vehicle, arrest two after high-speed chase

Grahamstown police arrested two males, aged 23 and 33, in the early hours of Monday following a high-speed chase and managed to recover a stolen vehicle.

“At approximately 03:30 this morning members on duty received a report of a vehicle that was stolen in Port Elizabeth heading towards Grahamstown. 

“A description of the vehicle was circulated, a White Toyota Dyna Truck. Constable Abongile Bolo and her crew Sgt Mgqantsa proceeded to the N2 close to the Settlers Monument and were joined by Constables Mantile and Constable Denston,” said Grahasmtown police in a statement.

“Both vehicles then started patrolling the N2.

“As Constable Bolo drove in the direction of Port Elizabeth, she spotted the vehicle passing the Correctional Facility. She turned around and gave chase and contacted Constable Denston that she was chasing the vehicle.

“They managed to stop the vehicle on the N2 and arrested both the driver and his passenger.”

Both suspects who are from Motherwell in Port Elizabeth were detained.

A case of Possession of Stolen Motor vehicle was opened for investigation. They will appear in the Grahamstown Magistrates Court Shortly.
