Heavy rain and possible flooding in parts of the Eastern Cape

SEPTEMBER 30, 2015

The South African Weather Services on Wednesday morning issued an advisory for heavy rain and possible flooding in the Southern part of the Eastern Cape.

According to the SA Weather Services, heavy rain is expected in places between Plettenberg Bay and Storms River.

A warning for flash flooding has been issued for the Kou Kamma, Kouga and Baviaans local municipalities.

While rain batters these parts, the SA Weather Services also issued a warning for veld fire conditions for the northern and central interior of Eastern Cape.

Residents are advised to listen to the radio or visit www.weathersa.co.za for the latest forecasts and warnings.

It is advisable to seek shelter in a sturdy building and to park cars away from old trees that may fall over.

Those living in low-lying areas are also advised to seek refuge on high ground in the event of flooding.
