Heavy rains expected along Eastern Cape coastal region
The South African Weather Services on Thursday morning issued a weather watch for heavy rain along the coastal regions of the Eastern Cape from the Sunshine Coast to the Wild Coast.
According to the SA Weather Services, heavy rain is expected in Port Alfred, Peddie, East London, Komga, Butterworth, Libode, Lusikisiki, Mthatha and Port Edward.
Heavy rains were experienced in the Southern Cape up to around Port Elizabeth yesterday resulting in a warning for flash flooding was for the Kou Kamma, Kouga and Baviaans local municipalities.
Residents are advised to listen to the radio or visit www.weathersa.co.za for the latest forecasts and warnings.
It is advisable to seek shelter in a sturdy building and to park cars away from old trees that may fall over. Those living in low-lying areas are also advised to seek refuge on high ground in the event of flooding.
