High possibility of evening load shedding: Eskom

JULY 21, 2015

Eskom on Tuesday morning said while it expected no load shedding in the morning, there was a high possibility of evening load shedding.

On Monday, Eskom implemented Stage 1 load shedding from 17:00-22:00 "due to increased demand and shortage of generation capacity due to plant maintenance". This was after the power utility implemented Stage 2 load shedding for the whole day on Sunday.

The power utility has urged electricity users to consider energy efficient ways of keeping warm, as the country was experiencing cold weather conditions.

“We appeal to all our customers to continue to reduce their electricity usage throughout the day but to be aware of the need to save more during the peak periods from 06:00 to 10:00 and 17:00 to 21:00.”
