Home Affairs offices set for major improvement

MAY 11, 2015

President Jacob Zuma will on Tuesday unveil an initiative to improve services at Home Affairs offices.

Known as the Moetapele Initiative, the programme is a front office and leadership improvement project of the Department of Home Affairs, which aims to improve the way officials work and deliver services to the public.

The initiative will be launched at Edenvale High School at 10am.

“Through this initiative, we are challenging the leadership of the department to turn some of our most troublesome offices into model offices, and Edenvale, which has been the subject of many customer complaints, will be the first,” Home Affairs Minister Malusi Gigaba said last week when tabling his budget vote.

The programme will involve the development of ‘model offices’ as incubators of best practice for the department.

It is meant to be the centrepiece of the department's efforts to ensure a consistently high quality customer experience at all Home Affairs offices. – SAnews.gov.za
