Huge success for SAPS Task Team in Mount Ayliff


The members of the task team which was established to investigate a string of armed robberies that recently took place in the Mount Ayliff  area  was hailed for the positive  results they achieved when they recovered fourteen (14) firearms arms and arrested fourteen  (14) suspects in separate incidents recently.

 The task team which was established  by the  Mount Ayliff  Cluster Commander during May 2015 successfully conducted several operations, targeting  hotspots such as Mzamba, kwaDengane, Mpisi and Mbizana residential areas where 14 suspects were arrested for the  illegal possession of fire arms and drugs.

 During the operation, ninety (90) tablets of mandrax and two hundred and seventy (270) straws of wonga were also recovered and seized from the suspects.

 All fourteen (14) suspects are facing charges relating to the illegal possession of firearms and drugs. The cases are pending in court and the  suspects are expected to appear before court on the 17 July 2015.

 Mount Ayliff Cluster Commander Brigadier Mthuthuzeli Mntukushe applauded the work done by members and said: “This operation will not cease until we rid all the targeted areas in the Mount Ayliff Cluster of crimes relating to armed robbery.”
