Humansdorp murder-suicide incident under investigation

Police are investigating a case of a murder-suicide incident, by which an inquest docket was opened, where a 52-year-old man shot and killed a Department of Public Works employee before turning the gun on himself in Humansdorp yesterday.

Police spokesperson, Sgt. Majola Nkohli, said the man by the name of Rudlof Meiring allegedly stormed into an office in Station Street and shot Christian Crouse (56) several times.

After Meiring shot and killed himself, a woman who was allegedly with Crouse in the office had fled the building.

A revolver was found at the scene and Nkohli had confirmed that the motive for the murder and suicide was not yet known.
