Humewood, Pollok and Kings beaches now open after shark scare

JANUARY 20, 2016

The precautionary closure of the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality's Humewood, Pollok and Kings beaches that was implemented after a metre-long shark was spotted at the Pier on Tuesday, has been lifted as of 09:00am on Wednesday.

"The closure is necessary to ensure the safety of beachgoers," the municipality said yesterday.

Still, that set several residents joking on social media at how three beaches could be closed because of just a metre-long shark when in countries like Australia, for example, they have to deal with "20 metre-long" sharks.
