Hyundai i20 gets N’d

As part of its recently launched N-series performance division, Hyundai has introduced a revised version of its B-segment i20 with a number of cosmetic tweaks as well as a small boost in power and torque.

Based on the previous range topping Fluid model, the new i20 N’s main differences include 17-inch alloy wheels, stainless steel free-flow exhaust system, stiffer shocks, N-series bodykit and special N badges on the front fenders on bootlid. Standard spec interior however continues unchanged.

Up front, the 1.4-litre Kappa petrol engine has been revised to now produce 85 kW and 160 N.m of torque, versus the “standard” i20’s 74 kW and 133 N.m torque. A six-speed manual gearbox once again sends power to the front wheels.

A five year / 150 000 km warranty and three year / 60 000 km service plan is included in the i20 N’s R235 500 asking price.
