IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Video of the Queen Victoria Statue vandal

The Herald newspaper in Port Elizabeth managed to obtain exclusive CCTV footage of the vandal behind the defacing of the Queen Victoria statue at the Port Elizabeth Library. ln the 22 seconds-long video, a lone young white man dressed in jeans and a white T-shirt can be seen throwing a bucket of green paint at the statue before jumping into his car and speeding off.

When the news broke, it had been specualted that the Eastern Cape chapter of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) were behind the defacing of the statue after people suspected to be their members tried to burn the Uitenhage Ango Boer Memorial and vandalised the Horse Memorial in Port Elizabeth.

The EFF denied defacing the Horse Memorial and the Queen Victoria statue but applauded the actions.
