Indonesian delegation extends a hand of friendship to Nelson Mandela Bay

Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality Executive Mayor Dr Danny Jordaan hosted a high level Indonesian delegation interested in exploring positive relations and cooperation on multiple levels between the Cirebon City West Java and its South African counterpart at the Port Elizabeth City Hall on Monday.

The delegation, led by Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia Mr Abdul Rachman Dudung, initiated the visit with Mayor Jordaan as a precursor for further bilaterals, the exploration of areas of cooperation and the possibility of subsequent formal arrangements.

Mr Dudung presented the intention of the visit as, amongst others, an opportunity:

  • To explore exchanges and cooperation in education, tourism, trade, maritime and other fields,
  • To develop real cooperation in an active way; exploring all possibilities of establishing a sister city relationship between the two cities, and;
  • To encourage a relationship amongst small and medium enterprises and to have various kinds of economic cooperation and exchanges.

Known for its hot and humid conditions, Cirebon is a city in West Java located close to the border of Central Java with fishery as its main area of production.

Executive Mayor Jordaan heartily welcomed his visitors and said areas of cooperation will be investigated and enthused about future bilaterals between the two regions.
