Injury concerns for the Bulls
Vodacom Blue Bulls centre, Burger Odendaal, has been ruled out of rugby for the next two months after breaking his arm during his side’s 46-12 Currie Cup defeat against the GWK Griquas at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria on Saturday.
According to Bulls team doctor, Org Strauss, Odendaal will not be able to compete in the Currie Cup semi-final against the DHL Western Province Stormers at Newlands on Saturday.
This has left Bulls coach, Frans Ludeke, with a selection dilemma for the upcoming game against the Stormers.
Handre Pollard may be placed in the number 12 jersey, with Jacques-Louis Potgieter keeping the number 10.
Ludeke could also place Pollard at flyhalf, as Ulrich Beyers moves from fullback to centre position with Jesse Kriel taking the number 15 jersey.
In a further blow for the Bulls, scrumhalf Piet van Zyl sustained an ankle injury during last weekend’s game. He will undergo physiotherapy until Thursday before being rested until the semi-finals.
The Bulls are currently lying fourth on the Currie Cup log with 28 points.
