It feels like it, but it's not a warm Autumn: SA Weather Services

JUNE 3, 2016

Although all many people are claiming that this has been a particularly warm May and Autumn, that is not the case, says Garth Sampson, Client Liaison Officer for the Eastern Cape at the South African Weather Services.

"No matter how one views it maximum and minimum temperatures for BOTH Port Elizabeth and East London, they are very close to the norm," he said.

"Although May was particularly dry in Port Elizabeth, the autumn season (March to May ) was pretty normal due to some good falls in the first two months of autumn.

"East London figures however show that rainfall was above the norm for BOTH May and the autumn season."

Sampson also said that dam levels for the Mandela Bay Metro are however steadily falling and the latest stats show that  is that they stand at an average 76%.

"So this is a good time to be mindful of water conservation."
