Janse Van Rensburg joins EP Kings as defence coach
The Emirates Golden Lions Rugby Union has let former Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University Madibaz coach, Brent Janse van Rensburg, out of his current contract in order for him to join the Eastern Province Kings as their defence coach.
"Brent approached us and asked us if he could be released from his contract for personal reasons, and he wished to return to Nelson Mandela Bay," Rudolf Straeuli, CEO of the Golden Lions said.
The Union has wished Janse Van Rensburg all the best for the future.
EP Kings CEO, Charl Crous, said that since the departure of former defence coach, Omar Mouneimne, the Kings have been trying to find a suitable replacement.
"When we heard that Brent was returning to Nelson Mandela Bay, we approached him to consider taking up the position of Head of Defence," Crous said.
"Brent is a top calibre coach, having earned his stripes in the school system and at the NMMU Madibaz, and we are confident that he will play a significant role in our preparations going forward," he added.
Janse Van Rensburg will effortlessly fit into the mix with the Kings, as he has had experience with the side during his contract as coach of the NMMU Madibaz Varsity Cup side.
"We are also extremely thankful to the Lions who have, in good faith, released Brent to take up this opportunity with us," Crous added.
