Janse van Rensburg names team for WP match

OCTOBER 8, 2015

Eastern Province Kings centre, Ronnie Cooke, has been named as captain for their final Currie Cup clash against DHL Western Province Stormers at the Newlands Stadium in Cape Town on Friday afternoon.

Tim Whitehead and Steven Sykes have both been side-lined due to injury, with Cooke taking Whitehead’s place at centre. JP du Plessis will be moving to inside centre.

EP Kings coach, Brent Janse van Rensburg, said that Stefan Willemse and Luther Obi both have minor injuries; however he said that he is fairly confident they will be ready for the match.

“But we have put Tazz Fuzani (for Willemse) and Siviwe Soyizwapi (for Obi) on standby, and they will be travelling with us in case the players selected are not cleared by the medical staff at a late stage,” Janse van Rensburg said.

Janse van Rensburg added that he was disappointed with the second half of their match against the Vodacom Blue Bulls where they lost 49-27, and wants a strong performance throughout the match against the Stormers.

“We want to end on a high note and I want the team to put in a good performance, to be competitive and to aim for a consistent display for the full 80 minutes.

“The players owe it to their fans and to themselves to end off strongly,” he added.
