Jeffreys Bay duo arrested for dagga cultivation

Jeffreys Bay police on Monday afternoon arrested two suspects, both 36 years old, at a residential home in Noorsekloof Street in Wavecrest, Jeffreys Bay, for the illegal possession and cultivation of dagga.

According to Eastern Cape police, officers received valuable information and obtained a search warrant for the premises where they made this illicit discovery.

Almost one kilogram loose dagga was found stashed inside a fridge; several plants as well as the equipment to cultivate the plants were seized on the premises. The value of the dagga and the equipment was estimated at about R20 000.

The suspects are both due in the Humansdorp Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.

Humansdorp Cluster Commander: Brigadier Neil Jantjies said, “We will continue with the fight against the illegal drug trade and will arrest those transgressing the law”.
