Julius Malema to visit AbaThembu King Dalindyebo at East London prison

JANUARY 8, 2016

Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Commander In Chief (CIC), Julius Malema, and senior members of his party, are expected to pay a special visit to imprisoned AbaThembu King, Buyelekhaya Dalindyebo, at the East London Maximum Correctional Centre in East London on Saturday.

Speaking to eNCA, EFF National Spokesman, Mbuyiseni Ndlozi, said that they are just visiting to see if the King is well - although he did not rule out political issues being part of the conversations with the King.

King Dalindyebo was a member of the Democratic Alliance (DA) until he was booted out last year when his bid to have his imprisonment overturned failed.

The Supreme Court of Appeal sentenced the King to an effective 12 years behind bars for a series of crimes ranging from assault and arson, to kidnapping and defeating the ends of justice.

The controversial dagga-smoking King was convicted in 2009 and initially sentenced to 15 years behind bars for the incidents, which reportedly took place in Mthatha between June 1995 and January 1996.

These include ordering his subjects to burn down their houses, administering corporal punishment and having the family of a man, who failed to turn-up at his court, kidnapped.
