Karma? PE hijacker arrested after getting lost and colliding with a police patrol

Port Elizabeth police on Wednesday said that they arrested two hijacking suspects in separate incidents in the city's Gelvandale and Kabega Park suburbs. 

A 25 year-old suspect will appear in court on Friday on charges of hijacking  and reckless and/or negligent driving.

"It is alleged that during the early hours of Wednesday morning, a man was parking his mini-bus in his yard in Kabega Park when he was accosted by three unknown men.

"The complainant was pointed with a firearm and the men, after failing to gain entrance into the house, drove off with the minibus," police said.

"It is further alleged that the suspects, who were not familiar with the area, lost their direction and collided into a patrolling police vehicle."

One suspect was arrested while the other two suspects fled and are still at large.

Police investigation continues.

In another incident , on Tuesday evening, a man was seated in  his vehicle - a Toyota Tazz, with his friends in Shauderville when four unknown men approached them and threatened them with a firearm.

The suspects drove off with the vehicle and a hijacking was immediately reported to local police.

"Algoa Park police spotted the vehicle driving in the area. The driver was stopped and a suspect, in his mid-twenties, was arrested and detained for vehicle hijacking.

He will also appear in court on Friday.
