Kenton police recover stolen electronic equipment worth R30 000


Police in Kenton-on-Sea near Port Alfred have confirmed the arrest of two suspects in connection with a house break-in this past weekend.

In a statement, police spokesperson Lieutenant Luvuyo Mjekula said 28-year old Thulani Mbangula and 27-year old Siyabulela Sonjeke were taken into custody in the early hours of Saturday morning, after a respondent informed private security company, Hi-Tech, that a handbag had been stolen.

Mjekula added that a second call not long after, alleged that a house break-in had taken place nearby and that the suspects had fled to nearby Endlovini Village.

A K9-unit found the men, one armed with a screwdriver, hiding in bushes moments later, with police also finding electronic equipment worth R30 000 in their possession.

The men appeared in Alexandria Magistrate’s Court earlier today and will remain behind bars till their next hearing on December 21st.
