Khune selected for Nedbank Cup

Kaizer Chiefs head coach, Stuart Baxter, has said that Itumeleng Khune will be placed back in the goals when his team clashes with Edu Sports for the Nedbank Cup first round match at the FNB Stadium in Soweto on Saturday afternoon.

However, the 61-year-old coach added that a new contract between the star goalkeeper and the club had not yet been formalised.

Baxter said that he would not have selected Khune for goalkeeper had his contract not been signed, but said on Thursday that the situation was close to being settled.

The 27-year-old goalkeeper’s contract with the Chiefs only ends in June this year and Baxter has not been selecting him for League games.

"He hasn't done anything to put him out of the team," Baxter said.

"Itu will play in the Nedbank Cup game and I haven't decided yet who is going to play in Botswana next week. I have a choice of two good goalkeepers.

"If the contract talks are promising, I can feel free to pick who I want," Baxter added.
