King Williams Town's Anaso Jobodwana now fastest 200m runner in SA

AUGUST 28, 2015

King Williams Town's Anaso Jobodwana has become South Africa's latest hero after he took bronze in the 200m final at the Beijing 2015 IAAF World Championships in Beijing - coming third to Jamaica’s Usain Bolt, who has been dubbed the fastest man alive, and the United State’s Justin Gatlin.

Jobodwana’s personal best of 19.87 seconds consequently set a new South African record and produced one of the greatest short distance sprints in the country’s history.

Fellow south African, Wayde van Niekerk, had recently held the national record at 19.94.

Just two months ago, no South African had broken 20 seconds in the 200m.
