Kings aiming for Currie Cup success

JUNE 12, 2015

The Eastern Province Kings will use the 2015 Currie Cup as a platform to prepare for their return to Super Rugby next year.

Bret Janse van Rensburg was named as the Kings new Currie Cup coach earlier this week; however, the team is still searching for a coach for the 2016 Super Rugby season.

"We are still in that process," Kings CEO, Charl Crous said.

"There are various candidates that we are looking at. In an ideal world we would like to have it wrapped up by the end of the month, but a lot still needs to happen,” he added.

Even though the Kings want to make a good impression in order to make it into the Super Rugby tournament next year, Crous has said that he also wants to show their fans that they can “compete at the highest level.”

"I think it is important," he said.

"We are also in a position when a large number of our players in this year's Currie Cup squad will be part of the Super Rugby side, so we'd like to start moving forward positively."
