Kingswood win one, lose one at Shaw/Brown T20 festival

So far at the Shaw/Brown T20 cricket festival held at Kingswood College in Grahamstown traditionally from mid to late November, Kingswood have played two matches against SACS and Graeme College respectively.

Against SACS, Kingswood lost by five wickets after setting a total of 126/9 in their 20 lot of overs, as SACS reached the total with 127/5 in their batting spell. Liam Harrison (41) and Chris Matthews (26) were the top scorers for the hosts, while Jimmy Sholto-Douglas and Harrison featured best in the bowling with figures of 2/10 and 2/20 respectively.

Kingswood then went on to beat fellow Grahamstown-counterparts, Graeme College by 41 runs, after again batting first and setting a total of 134/4. Graeme College then fell short on 93 all out. Justin Potgieter and Sholto-Douglas were top scorers with 51 and 36 respectively; with Sholto-Douglas (2/8) also scoring the best bowling figures. Aidan Hawkesworth (2/18) also showed decent bowling figures of 2/18.

The Shaw/Brown festival concludes this weekend with Graeme College playing SACS on Friday and the former playing again on Saturday against hosts, Kingswood.

Scoring a total of more than 1000 runs and taking a total of more than 70 wickets, Jimmy Sholto-Douglas has been representing the Kingswood 1st XI since January 2014 and receives the school’s prestigous Honours Award Citation. He was also able to recently make his way into the Eastern Province U18 Coca-Cola cricket side.
