Kirkwood man in custody for murder of his 15 year old son


Kirkwood police are investigating a case of murder after a 48 year-year old father allegedly stabbed his son to death early on Sunday morning, outside a tavern in Church Street, Enon, Kirkwood.

It is alleged that the son took some money and went to a tavern in Enon, Kirkwood. The father went to the tavern and pulled his son out of the tavern after which a quarrel ensued.

“The son allegedly used a bottle to attack his father and the father stabbed the son with a knife in the chest,” said Kirkwood police spokesperson, Captain Gerda Swart.

She added that the son died on the scene in Church Street and the 48 year-old suspect was detained on charge of murder.

The suspect is expected to appear in the Kirkwood Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.

In an unrelated case, Centane police arrested an 18 year-old man for murder of a 21 year-old man in a tavern at Msintsane Locality, Teko C village, Centane, on Sunday night.

It is alleged that both the suspect and the deceased were inside the tavern when a misunderstanding occurred, which resulted to the fatal stabbing of the deceased.

“The deceased was stabbed with an assegai on his upper body and died instantly on the scene,” said Centane Police spokesperson, Captain Jackson Manatha.

The suspect is expected in Centane Magistrate Court on Monday facing a charge of murder.
