Knysna prisoner re-arrested following court escape

BY MARC JACOBSON - APRIL 7, 2016

A 21-year-old prisoner, who escaped from the Knysna Magistrates Court on Wednesday, was re-arrested the same night in Hornlee.

The suspect appeared in court on charges of housebreaking and theft and had escaped on his way back to the police van.

With police still present, he managed to break loose and run away. He was then re-arrested later that night and will not be charged with escaping from lawful custody.

Police spokesperson, Captain Malcolm Pojie, says the man has many previous convictions.
