Kohler-Barnard’s appeal to be tabled early next year

The Democratic Alliance (DA) has reportedly confirmed it only hear the appeal of its former Shadow Minister of Police, Dianne Kohler-Barnard next year.

In an interview with News24, party Shadow Minister of Justice, Glynnis Breitenbach, said the matter would be tabled in mid-January when Parliament returns from the festive season.

Last month, Kohler-Barnard announced she would appeal the decision by the party’s Federal Executive to terminate her membership, after sharing a post on Facebook by freelance journalist Paul Kirk, which contained the lines, “Please come back PW Botha – you were far more honest than any of these ANC rogues, and you provided far better services to the public”.

She pleaded guilty to misconduct and was subsequently demoted to the position of Deputy Shadow Minister of Public Works before being fired.
