KwaNobuhle man arrested for possession of illegal firearm and drugs worth R10 830


Uitenhage police arrested a 23 year-old man, Winston Clarke, for the possession of unlicensed firearm, ammunition and drugs in Nene Street, KwaNobuhle on Wednesday morning.

According to the police, they received information, which they followed up on, and recovered a .22 pistol, one 9mm round, 121 full mandrax tablets, 45 quarters of mandrax and a small bag containing mandrax, worth an estimated street value of R10 830.

“The 23-year-old, Winston Clarke, appeared in the KwaNobuhle Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, and he was released on R2 000 bail with conditions,” said police spokesperson, Captain Gerda Swart.

She added that the case was remanded until the 17th of November, for further investigations.

The Station Commander, Colonel Zolani Xawuka, praised the members for the good work done and said, “We will continue with our actions to crack down on these unlawful substances and firearms which cause so much pain to vulnerable persons in our communities”.
