LASHES THAT MESMERISE: Luscious eyelash extensions with Michelle Marx
I first learned about eyelash extensions when a colleague of mine (who had shorter and straighter lashes than mine) arrived back at the office one day, batting her new long, curly, lashes. As a result, her eyes looked bigger, fuller and more alluring – and she was now more confident. A few weeks later, I too booked an appointment with Michelle Marx Make-up Artist, whom my friend highly recommended.
Since not all of us were blessed with beautiful, runway lashes, eyelash extensions are the next best thing to mascara. When worn correctly, as did my friend, they can also go totally undetected!
On arriving at Michelle’s beauty studio, at her home along Jasmine Avenue, Sunridge Park, Port Elizabeth, I was immediately drawn to her warm persona as she ushered me into her beauty treatment room – which I found bright and colourful, yet tranquil and overlooking her spacious garden outside.
Seated comfortably, Michelle then talked me through the whole process of eyelash extension. Thereafter, she started with a brow wax and then an eyelash tint so that my new lashes would blend in while I laid back and enjoyed being pampered.
As I relished the prospect of being able to sport gorgeous long lashes, Michelle painstakingly applied the delicate lashes. She was very gentle and meticulous about everything. Thus, besides the occasional tickle on my lashes, I never felt any discomfort through the whole process.
The entire process took approximately 60 minutes, during which I also discovered that Michelle is a good conversationalist. Once she had finished, she handed me the mirror.
I have only two words to describe Michelle; ‘Lash Whisperer’. The results were beyond my expectations - even today, I cannot stop pausing to look at my now full, black, long lashes.
Having a fairly light complexion and light lashes, I previously used more mascara and had to deal with ‘racoon eyes’ mid-afternoon - not anymore! My makeup routine has also become so much easier.
Michelle is passionate about her craft and comes highly recommend for your photographic, Bridal, special occasions and even Matric Farewell make-up needs. Her hours are extremely flexible and her prices are very affordable for the quality of work she does. She also offers make–up lessons.
She can also travel around town for multiple or group bookings and for permanent make-up ‘parties’ in the comfort of your own home.
