LIKE HOME: Charming setting and great food defines Isabella’s Restaurant
The weather was warm and the food ambrosial and I will return to Isabella’s Restaurant, which is now under new ownership and has shifted its focus from being a cafe to a restaurant as of November 2013.
Nicely tucked away from noisy poseurs, Isabella’s is a haven for those needing one. Inside this charming restaurant, is a blend of clean colours and vintage furnishings which culminate in a relaxed, warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Since my work colleague and I were running late, we were promptly ushered to our table by one of their very friendly waiters and given our menus. It took me a while, however, to decide on what I was going to have. The Isabella’s menu offers a wide variety of appetising options - from small lunches to platters for those with big appetites.
After a few minutes, my colleague, a regular at Isabella’s, recommended that I try their crispy mushrooms, as a starter, and a curry burger for the mains. She said the portions would be quite generous and suggested that we share the meal which we complimented with two cold drinks.
Just like she said, when our food arrived, I was surprised by how substantial the serving was. I soon found that it had also been meticulously prepared from fresh ingredients.
The mushrooms were served with two tasty dipping sauces – and after taking one bite, I simply could not stop! Not only were they well-cooked and crispy with a soft core, they burst with flavour and rate as some of the best that I have tasted so far.
Yes, the mushrooms made a good impression, but it was the curry burger that stole the show. As someone who loves spicy food, I was in for a real surprise when it arrived.
Complimented by an equally generous serving of golden chips and smothered in Isabelle’s secret sauce, I highly recommend you try this burger on your visit. I immediately tucked in and did not want to stop. My colleague noted that although the burger was curried it had a sweet taste to it and did not burn, making it perfect for any palate.
I had always thought there was no place like my mother’s kitchen but after my experience at Isabella’s, there is. Isabella’s also offers enough space for intimate family get-togethers and kids’ parties in their beautiful outdoor garden. Isabella’s is open from 11:00 to 22:00, Tuesday to Saturday (closed Sunday and Monday). Their location, the food, service and pricing is just perfect!
