Lions prop called up to the Boks
Xerox Golden Lions prop, Ruan Dreyer, has been called up to the Springboks squad in order to replace Jannie du Plessis, who injured his hamstring and knee during the 31-28 win against England in Twickenham on Saturday.
Du Plessis was helped off the field in the second half of the match with Bok coach, Heyneke Meyer, saying that du Plessis is likely to miss the next match against Italy as well as the final against Wales.
"Jannie will probably not be ready this weekend and Gurthro Steenkamp is not available to face Wales next week so we've decided to bring Ruan in," said Meyer.
Dreyer will be joining the team in Italy as soon as his travel arrangements are in order.
"Ruan has been very good this season and played an integral role in the Lions' strong performances in the scrum. This presents a great opportunity to work with him."
