Liverpool back in the game after beating Tottenham

BY NATALI IVERSON - SEPTEMBER 1, 2014

Liverpool kept their dominance against Tottenham Hotspur, after winning the game 3-0 at the White Hart Lane stadium on Sunday.

After last week’s performance against Manchester City, Liverpool played an excellent game against the Spurs, with Liverpool coach Brendan Rodgers saying that title rivals should be warned as Liverpool is now “back in the groove”.

Liverpool introduced new signing Mario Balotelli; he however, missed many opportunities in his debut.

However, Rodgers said Balotelli will have more to offer after he has become comfortable with the team.

19 year-old Raheem Sterling scored the opening goal for Liverpool early in the first half of the game, bringing his World Cup talent onto the field.

"We've tried to develop Raheem into a player that can start inside and also play wide. You've seen the flexibility from him today," Rodgers said.

"It's important for me they have that intelligence to play in a number of systems. For a kid of 19, he is excellent."

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard and defender Alberto Moreno each scored a goal in the second half of the game, leading to Liverpool’s victory.

"I thought we were excellent. It was an outstanding performance," Rodgers noted.

"We have risen to every challenge since I've been here. It was the same last year when people wondered if we could keep it up. The beauty of this group is they are very humble.

"We clicked back to where we were last season. That was good to see, I think people will enjoy watching us this season."
