Love triangle goes bad as Centane man is stabbed to death at ceremony

JUNE 17, 2016

A 24 year-old man died on Thursday after he was stabbed to death in a dispute over a girlfriend that he was apparently sharing with his attacker. The incident happened at the Nkelekethe locality in Teko Springs Village in Centane near Butterworth.

According to Eastern Cape police, the deceased was approached by his attacker at an Intonjane ceremony – a traditional rite of passage ceremony marking the graduation from girl into womanhood.

Police believe the motive for the murder to be jealousy as both the suspect and the deceased were believed to be sharing one girlfriend.

The police are expected to make an arrest as the man’s attacker, who is from the same village.
