Mabokgwane happy with debut
Mpumalanga Black Aces goalkeeper, Jackson Mabokgwane, has said that he is proud to have made his official debut for Bafana Bafana at the 2015 African Cup of Nations match (AFCON) where the South African team drew 1-1 against Senegal on Friday.
Mabokgwane was placed in Bafana coach, Shakes Mashaba’s starting line-up for the Group C match, which had come as a surprise to many due to his height and Senegal’s goal scoring strength.
"I obviously didn't expect a 10 out of 10 performance," Mabokgwane said.
"I just wanted to go out there and do the best I could for my country. I just made one mistake, which was expected but overall I was happy with my contribution. I believe, though, that I am capable of so much more and that my best is yet to come,” he added.
The South African team are hoping to reach the semi-finals of the 2015 AFCON, which will all be decided on Tuesday.
Bafana will be facing Ghana, and are hoping for a win, as the team needs points in order to make it through to the next round.
The results of the Senegal and Algeria match, which will be played on Tuesday as well, will also affect whether Bafana will make it through.
