Major storage dams down to 76.60% of capacity

The major storage dams that supply Nelson Mandela Bay were at a combined 76.60% of capacity when the latest reading was taken on Monday, down from 77.38% a week earlier.

The largest storage dam, the Kouga was at 83.01% of capacity, down from 83.81% on September 15, while the second largest, the Impofu was at 73.55% having dropped from 74.26% a week earlier.

The Churchill Dam was at 58.50% on Monday, down from 59.37% a week ago, while the Groendal remained at 98.40%and the Loerie had dropped from 47.59% to 43.95%.

The municipality is set to impose water restrictions with effect from Wednesday but without the accompanying punitive tariffs.
