Malema says EFF ready for coalition to gain foothold in Nelson Mandela Bay

APRIL 30, 2015

Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema on Wednesday hinted that his party his party may go into what he calls a "working partnership" with other parties to win the Nelson Mandela Bay in the 2016 Local Government Elections.

Malema was speaking during a campaign at the Qunu informal settlement in Port Elizabeth.

"We are going to have a working partnership. So, we are prepared to do that with the Democratic Alliance, we are prepared to do that with the African National Congress, we are prepared to do that with the United Front," he reportedly said.

Earlier this year, clashes broke out between police and residents of Qunu after they refused to vacate land illegally occupied.

Malema has undertaken to provide legal assistance to people who are arrested for occupying vacant land.

"If there's any forceful removal, they must apply for an urgent interdict. We will take care of the costs. All those who are arrested for protest, we must represent them,” Malema said.
