Man appears in Port Elizabeth court for New Year's Day housebreaking

A 28 year-old Walmer man, Tembelani Ntontiso, appeared in the Port Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Monday on a charge of housebreaking.

According to Port Elizabeth police, it is alleged that between 20:00 on 31 December 2015 and 07:00 on 1 January 2016, a residential premises was broken into in Walmer location.

"Entry was gained by breaking a bedroom window. A computer to the value of R4 000 was stolen.

"Investigations led police to a house in Walmer location where part of the stolen equipment was recovered. The remaining half of the computer was found at the suspect’s house on 2 January."

Ntontiso was arrested and charged for possession of suspected stolen property and housebreaking.  

He was released on R300 bail and his next court appearance is on 1 March.

"The SAPS appreciates  the community’s participation in the fight against crime and  they urge the community to continue to provide information relating to criminal activities in their areas. Information supplied to the police will be treated as strictly confidential," the police further said.
