Man busted with tik worth nearly R4 000 in Addo

A 29-year-old man is expected in court on Monday for the illegal possession of tik after he was busted by police officers in Addo, who were conducting a multi-disciplinary roadblock on the R335 on Friday.

The man had tik worth worth an estimated R3 888.

"He is due to appear in the Addo Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 6 March 2017," said police spokesperson, Capt Gerda Swart.

She added; "A total of 201 vehicles were stopped and 24 fines to the value of R15 100 were issued.

"One unroadworthy vehicle was also confiscated."

In a similar police specialized joint operation on Thursday morning in the Addo precinct, officers arrested a 32-year-old female in connection with the dealing of mandrax, ecstasy and dagga and confiscated electronic equipment, suspected to be stolen, worth more than R30 000. 

"Members followed up on information and searched a house in Jakaranda Street, Valencia, Addo and confiscated 31 mandrax tablets, 49 ecstasy tablets, 40g of loose dagga with a street value of almost R5 000," said Captain Swart. 

"Electronic equipment confiscated included a variety of power tools, drills, TV sets, etc."

The 32-year-old female, Ruaal Foster appeared in the Addo Magistrates’ Court on Thursday morning on charges ranging from dealing in mandrax, ecstasy and dagga to the possession of suspected stolen goods. 

She was released on R500 bail and the case was remanded until 28 March 2017. 

Addo SAPS Detectives are appealing to the local community to contact them and assist them to identifying the rightful owners of the electronic equipment.
