Police in the Karoo have confirmed the arrests of two suspects in connection with a mandrax bust this past weekend.

In an interview with the local George Herald, Southern Cape police spokesperson Captain Malcom Pojie said police pulled over a bakkie near Uniondale on Saturday morning, where a closer investigation turned-up 100 000 tablets, worth an estimated R5.4-million, in concealed storage spaces on the vehicle’s undercarriage.

It is believed the supply was intended for Cape Town having been transported from Johannesburg. The men are expected to appear in the Uniondale Magistrate’s Court today on a charge of drug dealing.
