Manhunt for Jayde Panayiotou murderer/s continues

APRIL 23, 2015

The South African Police in Port Elizabeth are continuing with their search for the suspect(s) involved in the abduction and murder of the late Jayde Panayiotou, a school teacher from Riebeeck High School in Uitenhage.

Her body was recovered at about 10:00 yesterday morning after it was spotted by the SAPS helicopter crew near KwaNobuhle Township in Uitenhage. A large number of police officials were mobilised to participate in the search and have since returned to their normal duties.

The preliminary investigation indicated that the victim was shot and the post mortem will indicate the cause of death and further assist investigators with their investigation.  The post mortem will either be held today or tomorrow.

A local task team including Detectives, Crime Intelligence Officers and Forensic experts will now continue to follow up on all leads and information as it become available which will guide the focus of the investigation in search for the killers.

There has been media speculation that the perpetrators involved in this case could be the same as in a recent case where a woman was abducted in the parking area of a shopping centre in PE, but such has not been confirmed but a possible link is investigated.

Two individuals have been identified by the investigators who could either be involved in the crime or can assist the SAPS with the case. Any person who has any knowledge of their whereabouts is requested to please contact their local police station or Kabega Park Police Station on 041 397683/57 or WO Anel  Van Eyk at 041 3976857.

Information can also be shared on SAPS Crime Stop on 08600 10 111 or Crime Line on 3 22 11. Information will be treated as confidential.
