Masters and doctoral degree students will no longer pay tuition at Walter Sisulu University

The Walter Sisulu University, which has campuses in East London, Queenstown, Butterworth and Mthatha, on Wednesday announced that the Walter Sissulu University Council resolved on 25 November 2016 that, in future, postgraduate research students (Master’s by thesis and doctoral candidates) will no longer be charged academic tuition fees.

"Please note that this decision does not apply to coursework Master’s," Thando Cezula, Marketing and Communications Officer at the university, was quick to caution.

"Administration fees and where applicable, accommodation fees, will still be charged.

"The University trust that this decision will assist supervisors to attract and retain research students and that the institution will soon see an improvement its research reputation."
