NOVEMBER 12, 2014

Nelson Mandela Bay Mayor Ben Fihla and his counterparts from other Eastern Cape municipalities were scheduled to sign a service delivery agreement in King William’s Town today on government's “Back to Basics” strategy.

The agreement will be signed with Eastern Cape Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs MEC Fikile Xasa at the launch of the strategy in the Eastern Cape today by Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Minister Pravin Gordhan.

The department said in a statement ahead of the event that the signing of the agreement with the MEC was “to ensure that the programme is embraced and supported by all in the Eastern Cape Province”.

The overarching aim of the “Back to Basics” strategy unveiled nationally in September, is “to serve communities better” and it contains a wide range of interventions aimed at achieving this. - metrominutes
