Mdantsane men slapped with 15-year jail sentences for 2015 gang rape

The Mdantsane Magistrate's Court on Monday, convicted and sentenced two men, Sithembiso 'Nkwenkwe' Ngcobo, aged 29 years-old, and Lakhile 'Mhlobo' Wexu, aged 30-years-old,  to 15 years behind bars for raping a 28 year-old woman, in October 2015,  in Newlands Location, near East London

According to the police, both convicted gang-raped the victim during a traditional ceremony in Newlands Location.

“The victim knew the men, as they grew up together in the same location and a case of rape was opened at Vulindlela police station,” said police spokesperson, Captain Nkosikho Mzuku.

He added that, Sergeant Bhanakazi Jonas took over the investigation and immediately arrested the suspects.

“The Mdantsane Magistrate, Eugene Moss didn't hesitate to sentence Ngcobo and Wexu to 15 years direct imprisonment each for rape and the victim’s family welcomed the sentence and commended the investigating officer for a job well done,” said Captain Mzuku.
