Mega Motorsport Extravaganza Coming to PE

Nelson Mandela Bay’s top 100 motoring companies converged with media and esteemed guests at the Boardwalk Casino Conference Centre in Port Elizabeth today; to take part in the launch of a much-anticipated motorsport extravaganza that is due to take place from 10 - 13 December 2015.

Mzansi International Motorsport Show is a mega motorsport spectacular that combines innovation, engineering, SMME development, manufacturing, skill development, skills transfer, economic development and empowerment in Nelson Mandela Bay and the Eastern Cape Province. The event will be anchored on Formula One giant Lotus Mercedes.

The core purpose of the event is to celebrate and expose the world to all things South African whilst showcasing and promoting the country’s motorsport, technical skills, music, local cuisine, world acclaimed wines, whiskeys cap classiques, beers, arts and crafts sectors.

The property will look to offer an unparalleled showcase of motorsport fashion and their acclaimed accessories. The highlight of the project will undoubtedly be the F1 motor showcase, Super bikes, Motorsport extreme showcase - an all-in one family entertainment event.

“The Eastern Cape Province and Nelson Mandela Bay, have never experienced nor hosted an event of this magnitude, that promises to drive economic growth in the province, whilst drawing local and foreign tourists to our shores. We are pleased to welcome Mzansi International Motorsport Show to Port Elizabeth in December,” says Mandlkazi Skefile, CEO of Nelson Mandela Bay Tourism.

The Mzansi International Motorsport Show business breakfast launch is supported by the Provincial Government, the Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber, Nelson Mandela Bay Tourism and IPTS. It is the first of a series of events that have been earmarked to market this motorsport extravaganza.

Companies such as Audi, Volkswagen, Mercedes Benz and many more within the motoring value chain, were invited to support the event through purchase of tailor-made hospitality packages, advertising platforms or sponsorship.

“Mzansi International Motorsport Show is an astronomical undertaking and we are pleased at the positive response that we received from local businesses who have pledged their support through purchase of the various offerings that we presented,” says MIMS Project Director Thokozani Shongwe.

With just nine months left before the inaugural Mzansi International Motorsport Show, the organizers at the helm of this mammoth project are rolling up their sleeves and preparing for what promises to be the most memorable event hitherto seen on South Africa’s entertainment calendar.
