MEMORABLE ROMANTIC HIDEAWAY: The Plantation, a country getaway a short drive away
It was only three months into the New Year when my husband and I decided it was time for us to take a mini-break. Perhaps a romantic evening together and a candlelight dinner would take our minds off all the hustle and bustle of everyday life in the fast lane.
After taking a short journey along Marine Drive, which was relaxing in itself, we arrived and were warmly welcomed to The Plantation. The venue boasts about 4 luxury cottages, each surrounded by an exquisite garden.
On entering our luxury guest suite which consisted of an elegantly decorated large bedroom that led-off to a private patio, had an en-suite bathroom and shower, a dinette area, where breakfast is served, fully equipped with, tea and coffee making facilities and a mini fridge. The room also came with all other standard amenities such as TV with 16 satellite channels.
Interleading suites can be booked for families and babysitters can be arranged.
Since we still had a few hours of daylight, we decided to do some exploring around the area and soon found a local restaurant open where we enjoyed an icy drink together and enjoyed a beautiful sunset! After our candlelit dinner, we headed back to The Plantation.
There we sat outside on our private patio enjoying the fresh night air with only the sounds of crickets and owls hooting in the distance, before calling it a night.
The following morning we awoke fully rested to the sound of birds chirping. Outside our bedroom window, the forest canopy hung over us like a magical hideaway – gave us a feeling of complete seclusion. After our morning coffee, we ventured out to explore our beautiful surroundings.
We enjoyed Sardinia Bay Nature Reserve’s picturesque beaches and horse-riding which are within easy walking distance from The Plantation.
Designed as an all-in-one wedding venue, The Plantation encompasses a romantic chapel, elegant ballroom and luxurious bridal suite. I also found that the place an ideal venue for relaxed but productive corporate conferences and training sessions.
I really enjoyed our mini-getaway. It was a great opportunity to relax and reconnect and I can recommend The Plantation Country Retreat to anyone looking for a place for a relaxing stay or to host a memorable event out of but within reach of PE.
