Metro embarks on 'one of the biggest public participation programmes ever'

SEPTEMBER 19, 2016

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality on Monday kicked off "one of the most extensive public participation programmes ever rolled out in the municipality's history", the municipality said.

"With over 54 hours of scheduled meetings taking place across the Metro over the next 6 weeks, this new administration is working to deliver on its promise to take government to the people," said Executive Mayor, Athol Trollip.

"I have asked all Members of the Mayoral Committee to be present at every meeting except where prior unavoidable community-based commitments exist.

"I, along with the City Manager, will also be present at a number of meetings over the 6 week period."

Trollip said that public participation is crucial to the preparation of an Integrated Development Plan and Budget that truly represent the needs of all Nelson Mandela Bay residents.

"I urge all residents to come out and engage with your government so that we can report back on progress, share ideas on development and deliberate on how best to take this Metro forward."
